Uniforms of the Foot Artillery
The Uniform of the Royal Artillery changed several times throughout the Napoleonic wars. Often they closely followed the fashion of the Infantry, in particularly the Foot guards as can be clearly seen by the flowerpot bastion loops on the tunics. The Footguards, however received their uniform regulations from Horseguards where as the Royal Artillery recieved theirs from the Board of ordinance. When the infantry changed regulatory dress, the artillery took a few more years to follow. This part of our website is dedicated to the uniforms of the Royal Foot Artillery and I shall attempt to explain the various components as we go. I shall be adding to the pages over the course of the next few months during my spare time so please be patient and check back regularly for updates…
